The Phi Phi islands (a.k.a. Koh Phi Phi) are centrally located in the Andaman Sea and are within a National Marine Park. The only populated island is Koh Phi Phi Don. This tropical island is a great place to be when you want to see the marine life of the Andaman Sea. Staying on Phi Phi has an advantage over staying in Phuket: less travel time to many of the dive and snorkel sites.

In the marine park you can see many marine life animals. Very popular are hawksbill turtles, zebra sharks / leopard sharks and blacktip reef sharks. Expect to see different types of angelfish, clownfish, butterflyfish, fusiliers, groupers, lobsters, shrimps, snappers and trevallies. You might also see barracudas, the yellow boxfish, an octopus, the scribbled filefish, a giant moray, nudibranchs, the black spotted puffer, lionfish and the titan triggerfish.

From Phi Phi you can also do daytrips to some amaziing dive sites. The King Cruiser Wreck - Anemone Reef - Shark Point trip is highly recommended. Hin Daeng and Hin Muang in the south are a must see for every diver. The two underwater mountains are covered with coral and sponges and surrounded with loads of marine life animals. However the main attraction here are whale sharks and giant manta rays. In high season you have a realistic chance to see them here.
